The problem with frozen food is that, if it isn’t something you cook, waiting for it to thaw can take forever. Microwaving a burrito takes 5 minutes. Waiting for frozen fruit to thaw is a PITA.

On camera flash (430ex) bounced off the ceiling. Fruit in bowl on top of foam core. (I really need to work on my flash skills.)

I’m still working through my photo book images. Getting close to having enough. I think this one will be in there…

Other than I wonder what this was recorded on (more pops than I expect in the digital age) and that the songs are short enough that it almost feels like a sampler, this is a pretty amazing album. Love her lyrics. No brutal rhymes here. Very cool.
It is the first album to knock Tanya Donelly’s Whiskey Tango Ghosts from continuous loop since I rediscovered that album.
It is $8 on Amazon MP3 Music download for the full album. Find your favorite Amazon affiliate and buy it.

Was looking for a high key photo I took a while ago. It was not in my image library. Found it in a desktop folder along with a few other images. I was curious if this one was salvageable. It wasn’t but here it is anyway.

I had to go B+W because I had brutalized the color trying to pull in the shadows and highlights. I did the sepia highlights to move the burned out area off of 255/255/255 (ie pure white). I did the duo tone because I wanted the cool interior to offset the warm outside light. I darkened the corners to further remove some of the burn. In the end just not enough detail in the highlights. (I think the shadows are fine.)
I do like the duotone. I think that worked.

Onsight has a nice set of 12 tips for Lightroom. I particularly like this one …
Set the background to white. You can do this by right-clicking (or control-clicking) on the background color around the image area when set to “Fit” to screen. While a white background may not be as pretty as the default dark gray, it will give you a better idea as to how an image’s highlight and mid-tone densities will appear when printed. A juxtaposition with paper white is critical. Toggle between white and dark grey if you like, but always view and adjust with a white background before printing or exporting.

I’m trying to put together a photobook so I’ve been going through all of my images. Ran across this. Not sure about it. But I really like the rock.

I’ve only made it to 2006. I still have 4 years of images to run through. Then I have to go through those images to find a final set. Then I have to do final conversions. Then I have to load them up in to their software and design the book.

Got tired of the UNC Blue theme.
This might be a first. I’m loading up this theme pretty much unchanged. (Some minor sidebar work.) Very clean.
It is pretty darn slow. Seems to have a huge stylesheet.

A summer day at Frontenac State Park. (Unseen: circling turkey vultures.) Shot with the Panasonic G1 and 14-45. I don’t know why. I guess I just find it peaceful. I like the tree, the shadow, the little wisps of clouds, the even line of the tree line in the back.

Here are some more that I liked quite a lot.
Mini prairie at Afton State Park…

I can’t remember how big this thing was. So I’m not sure what it was. From the front of the J. River building.

The engineering bathroom at J. River.

The front room of the J. River building.

Two planes over Blue Mound State Park. I like the glow of the sunset.
Just after sundown at Blue Mound State Park.

A stump and ferns along the trail at Jay Cooke State Park.
Reflections of a tree in the murky water at Richardson Nature Center.

Just a towel.
Vo looking regal.
Rushmore with toy and exercise ball in the basement.
Reflections of the sky in Lake Maria with lily pads.

The lake at Richardson Nature Center. Ski jump visible just over the hill.

I’m not sure what this is. But it changed color before anything else. Dead tree behind it. I think I have better versions of this.

Tree and Moon. This is an image that works best printed big.
