Bought the Lightroom 2 upgrade today. Decided to do a Louis Dobson style over the top sunset image.
This is an old Lake Maria image. A few things here. This is more than just a vibrance/saturation push. I’ve toyed with the new adjustment brush. (I think I need a tutorial.) I just punched up the exposure on the boat and dock. The boat looks okay but the dock is over done. The clarity slider is a wonderful thing.
Tools feel a little blunt right now. I’m sure I’ll get used to them. Just the ability to do a minor exposure touch up in lightroom without having to round trip it (read: develop the image into a psd or layered tiff) to photoshop is a great thing.
There is also output sharpening courtesy the good folks at Pixel Genius. Nice to be able to select output sharpening based on intent and just have it happen. For this image I just selected screen and standard sharpening.
Oh! I almost forgot! The new DNG profiles that are designed to give you colors closer to the default camera settings are really nice. I’ve no idea how close they come to the Canon styles but they are a definite improvement over the existing ACR profiles.

Haven’t posted kitty portraits in a while.
Vo was less enthused than Rushmore.

I think these are G9 images.

This one converted with Canon’s DPP software. I’m not sure what to make of the canon software. It is pretty basic and forces you to do a lot of things in photoshop that you would normally do in the RAW converter. But when it can handle an image it does a good job.
Anywho, a straight B+W conversion. Slightly different crop.

Took a few today. This is much like one I did earlier. More office visible this time.

The 450D is pretty nice. So is the 17-55f2.8 IS. Not sure I like this photo but here it is.
