The Library of Congress has a lot of cool photos available. Some still have copyright claimants so be careful if you intend to use them for profit.
Been trying to find a decent Teddy Roosevelt photo. I found a great one of him and John Muir (founder of the Sierra Club) at Yosemite with, I think, Horsetail Falls in the background. Looks to be copyrighted. I found a great John Muir portrait that was copyrighted but I’m not sure if the LoC owns the copyright now or what.
All of Mathew Brady’s Civil War photography looks to still have its copyright in place.
Actually, the one of TR and John Muir is listed as no known copyright restrictions so I’ll post it. Click the photo to get to a page with a better version of it.
I’ve an old photo I really want to scan and retouch. Unfortunately I can’t find it. I did find this one. I’ve no idea who these broads are but I like the photo. (I didn’t do much retouching of it.)

Same Lensbaby photo but with a fake IR conversion. Fuzzier if nothing else.

I’m getting the hang of this. The upshot is that while I’m having a hell of a time focusing the damned thing I am getting that “toy train” effect I was looking for. This shot doesn’t have that. It has a spot of focus shooting right through the tree. Kind of interesting and certainly my best effort on the day.

I really wish I’d have purchased the basic lens baby. This one has more features but I’m having better luck with it hand held which is the only option with the original lens baby.
I think I’ll keep it.
The MN Zoo. This has a few issues but the biggest one is the ISO. I was using a pretty high ISO because this dude was running all over the place. The problem with this is that noise reduction really attacks his fur. So all kinds of fine detail is just mush. Too bad because I like his pose.
Still playing with my new Lens Baby. But I have nothing good to show with it. I think it will take me a while to figure out how to use it. Either that or I’ll send it back. I’m seeing some stuff I like but it isn’t really there yet. I have a couple more weeks to play with it.

Should be a nice replacement for my Makoshika (sp?) State Park hat I lost in the St. Croix.
